This descriptive qualitative research describes the form of characters'
optimism in Insya Allah, Aku Bisa Sekolah novel by Dul Abdul Rahman and it uses
literary-psychology approach. The data source of this research was the novel itself
while the data of this research were words or sentences from the novel containing
optimism. The data were collected using reading and note-taking technique and then
analyzed using data reduction, data display, and data verification. The results of this
research included the actions or behaviors with optimism such as (1)working harder,
(2) being passionate to go to school, (3) continuing the study to Junior High School
level, (4) studying diligently, (5) working harder, (6) selling jalagkotecake, (7) being
responsible for what has done, (8) reciting Ayat Kursi, (9) buying a kumbang bicycle
(roadster bicycle), (10) not dyeing hair, (11) sending children to school, (12) using
alum as perfume and rice crust as tooth whitener, (13) communicating using English,
(14) creating a group of river lovers, (15) Samadin got a part to roast the fish, (16)
going to the sea for a swim when the report was opened, (17) self-encouraging by
punching out the air, taking clothes off, then patting chest, (18) arranging learning
technique, (19) not being shy to ride a roadster bicycle, (20) dancing together, being
able to do examination well, (21) keep going to school, (22) learning autonomously,
(23) praying and trying to turn on the machine, and (24) going to Daen Asmaras
house.
