The study aimed to describe the mathematical analogy thinking skills in terms of melancholy and phlegmatic personality types. It was a descriptive qualitative study. The subjects were the students of class VII E SMP Negeri 2 Kalibagor. Based on the personality type test, two groups of personality types were taken, namely melancholy and phlegmatic. Then, three students from each were selected from the melancholic and phlegmatic personalities. The data were collected by using the personality type tests, analogy thinking skills tests, and interviews. The data were then validated using a data triangulation technique. The results of this study indicated that the respondents with melancholy personality type were able to identify the information on the problem, to relate the information to the problem-solving structure, and to make source problem-solving plans. The respondents with phlegmatic personality types were able to identify the information on the problem, to connect information with problem-solving structures, to make source problem-solving plans, and able to apply source problem-solving methods in solving target problems.
