This study aims to describe the mathematical literacy skills of coastal students at SMP Negeri 4 Cilacap. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this study were class VIII F, students are grouped into 2 groups, namely groups of students with parents who work as fishermen and groups of students with parents who work other than as fishermen. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out using tests of students' mathematical literacy skills, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of this study indicate that students with parents who work as fishermen have mathematical literacy skills as follows: Students are able to identify problems in math problems, and are able to draw conclusions based on the results obtained. Then the mathematical literacy skills of students with parents who work other than fishermen are as follows: Students are able to identify problems in math problems, are able to apply appropriate strategies to solve mathematical problems and are able to draw conclusions based on the results obtained.
