Abstract

Covid-19 pandemic which hit the world, including Indonesia, requires an action to prevent from wider transmission such as in the education aspect. Educational levels, from Primary School to University, are required to carry out remote learning activities. This is a challenge for educators to use media in the implementation of remote learning. Innovative learning media during the Covid-19 pandemic must be conducted to reduce student boredom, one of which is Video Challenge learning media. This study aimed to describe the media used by teachers, define the obstacles encountered by teachers, and explain the advantages and disadvantages in implementing remote learning with video challenges in grade V SD Muhammadiyah 2 Cimanggu Cilacap. This research method was descriptive qualitative. Sources of data were teachers, students, and parents of grade V students. Data collection techniques employed were observation, interviews, and documentation. For analyzing the data, it implemented data reduction, data presentation, and verification/conclusion. The data validity was tested by triangulation. The triangulation techniques used were data triangulation and technical triangulation. The data Triangulation was obtained through interviews with data sources, namely teachers, students, and parents of grade V. Triangulation techniques conducted were data from observations, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study revealed that in the implementation of remote learning, the teacher used the video challenge media. The obstacles encountered by the teacher during learning were students having difficulty understanding the material, lack of parental guidance in assisting students in learning from home, and full internal memory of the handphone. The advantages and disadvantages in implementing remote learning with video challenges were; advantages (1) providing more real experience to students, (2) increasing students' learning motivation, (3) understanding the concept of learning better. The disadvantages of video challenge learning media were (1) requiring a long time to create and (2) the utilization for some subjects only.
