The study aimed to figure out effectiveness of token economy in improving the discipline of children. The subjects were children of group B (second year) at TK Pertiwi Karangsari in academic year of 2017-2018. This study was conducted at TK Pertiwi Karangsari Kembaran Sub-district, Banyumas Regency.
It was an experimental study with a one group pretest-posttest design model. The subjects were treated with token economy. The data was collected by using observation method. The instruments were observation sheets of child discipline behavior. Quantitative approach with qualitative approach was used in this study so that the research result was performed in detail and in depth. The data was analyzed by using descriptive statistic by comparing pretest-posttest mean score using t-test.
The result showed the differences between child discipline before and after the children were treated by token economy. The mean score of pretest was 11,2 (56%) and the mean score of posttest was 16,1 (80,5%). It meant that there was an improvement on pretest and posttest mean score with a difference in score of 4,9. Ha was effective token economy in improving child discipline. If tcount was more than ttable so Ha was accepted. tcount was 14,41 and ttable of significant level was 5% = 2,09 and significant level of 1% = 2,86. The result of tcount and ttable so, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between pretest mean score and posttest mean score. Therefore, Ha is accepted and token economy is effectively able to improve discipline of the children.
