Abstract

This research was aimed to know the perceptions of students about using mobile
assisted language learning especially in smartphone. In this study, researcher also
wanted to know the reason why students used mobile assisted language learning to
develop they English skills. The respondents were 51 students of English Education
Department from the 4th semester. This research used questionnaire and interview as
the data collection. This research found that the highest frequency of positive
perception was in the advantages of mobile assisted language learning is (84.76%) and
the lowest frequency was in the disadvantages perception of mobile assisted language
learning is (61.75%). It could be concluded that the majority of students used perceived
positively towards the use of mobile assisted language learning especially smartphone
to develop their English skills.
