The purpose of this research was to find out the dominant problem of students in listening test for national examination preparation at SMK Telkom Purwokerto in academic year 2017/2018. The participants of the research were twelve grade students of SMK Telkom Purwokerto in Academic year 2017/2018. There were 64 students of nine classes. In this research, technique of collecting data was listening test which consisted of 15 multiple choice items. In analyzing the data, the individual competence and the difficulty level were used to know the students‟ problem. The result of this research showed that in general, there was no significant problem faced by students in listening test. From their scores, it showed that they master the material well, and the average score of class belong to very good (85.10). The Students‟ problem was seen in the difficulty level, many students got difficulties in short conversation and short talk parts of listening test, the most difficult one was short talks. And it needed more attentions to improve their ability.
