This research was aimed to find out the factor causing students’ difficulty
in Speaking English faced by students and find the most influential factors that
causing students’ difficulty in speaking English. This research was conducted in
March 2019 at first grade of SMK Bakti Purwokerto in academic year 2018/2019.
The total number of population was 32 students. The researcher took all of
population as a sample. The method used descriptive statistic. The instrument in
collecting the data used test and interview. After the data had been collected and
analyzed, it was found that a lot of students in SMK Bakti Purwokerto had
difficulties in speaking English, there are some factors causing students’
difficulties. The most influential factors is students’ anxiety and fear making
mistakes.
