Abstract

This research is aimed at investigating whether Speech Therapy can positively affect the development of speech performed by children with special needs in Qaryah Thayyibah Playgroup Purwokerto.
This research used the qualitative approach with the case study method. The subject of this research was a group of two children with a speech disorder. The data were collected through interview, observation, and documentation. The data collected were then analyzed descriptively and qualitatively using interactive method.
The result of the research shows a significant positive effect on the development of the subject. It is proven that IH improves the ability of eye contact, responding call by turning head, listening carefully, and answering simple questions of where, what, and who. The ability which does not improve significantly is mentioning things shown. Meanwhile, JN improves the ability of eye contact, responding call by turning head, mentioning things shown, and answering simple questions of where, what, and who. The ability which does not improve significantly is listening carefully.
