Abstract
A road is a land transportation infrastructure which has a crucial role in supporting all human activities. However, as time goes by, human and vehicle rapid growth are not balanced with the adequate infrastructure development. The increasing number of the vehicles and the road condition, which is traversed by high and repeated traffic volumes, can decrease the quality of the road surface. This condition makes the road uncomfortable and unsafe to travel. This research is conducted through a survey, that is by measuring the length, width, road damage depth, and the extent as well as the volume of each damage. After all data are collected, they are analysed through the Pavement Condition Index Method. The research result indicates that the most frequent damage along the road from Karangbawang to Gumelar is the damage of crocodile cracking (40.23%). The condition index value (PCI) of Karangbawang - Gumelar Road is 76.95% with “excellent” rating. The total road damage volume is 2.32 m3. The ways used in handling road damage include filling the cracks, filling the holes, and flattening.
