The study aimed to determine the average income of member, to assess the
members’ participation, to observe role of “Mekar Sari” Farmer Group in an
effort to increase revenues member of farming in Kertasari Village, Banjarharjo
District, Brebes. The method applied in the reaserch was descriptive case study.
The research was conducted in the village of Kertasari, Banjarharjo, Brebes
District for five months, namely January to May 2016. The data used were
primary and secondary data. Sample selection was done using purposive
sampling. The sample was selected by the farmers who cultivate paddy, and as an
active member of “Mekar Sari” Farmer Group, farmers obtained anincreased
income from 2013 to 2015. The resoults showed that (1) The average income
received by members of “Mekar Sari” Farmer Group in 2013-2015 was Rp.
2,233,017.00. The increased average income occurred in 2014 after “Mekar Sari”
Farmers started to establish. (2) The participation of “Mekar Sari” Farmer Group
in a variety of activites to increase the income from rice farming were high. As for
the participation of members of each of the elements were: (a) Participation in the
Annual members Meeting (RAT) was high; (b) Participation in the activities of a
group meeting was high; and (c) Participation in agricultural development
program was high. (3) The Role of “Mekar Sari” Farmer Group as an effort to
increase revenues for member of rice farming was high. The Role of “Mekar Sari”
Farmer Group to each of the elements were: (a) The use of media learning was
high; (b) The use of media cooperation was high; (c) The use of information
media was high; (d) The production activities was high; and (e) Business activities
were high.
