Dextromethorphan is a cough medicine that most people are not appropriate in
using it. Generally this case is carried out by teenagers with a promiscuity life.
One of the cough drug abusers are members of motorcycle gan. This study was
aimed to measure the level of knowledge, attitudes and behavior of teenagers in
the motor community towards the use of dextromethorphan. This research used
quantitative analytical descriptive research Cross Sectional design. The method of
data retrieval is done through purposive sampling on members of the motorbike
community who had a member card. There were 577 members of motorbike
community as the study population, the proportion was made to 86 respondents.
All respondents were male. The highest frequency of the age was at the age of 16
amounting to 46 respondents (53.49%), the highest respondent education was in
senior high school / equivalent as many as 67 respondents (77.91%). Knowledge
analysis results showed that 45 respondents had good knowledge and 4 bad
knowledge responses. Attitude analysis showed 52 respondents with good attitude
and 12 respondents with bad attitudes and the results of behavioral analysis
indicated 51 respondents with good behaviors and 17 respondents with bad
behavior. From the results, it was concluded that the existence of knowledge,
attitudes and behavior of the motorbike community was very influential on cough
drug abuse dextromethorphan because it was included in the high category, this
was caused by the existence of peers and friends who were more mature so that
they can be affected and easily influenced.
