This research aimed to describe the values of humanism in the short story
compilation of ‘Satu Miliar Cinta' by I Gusti Made Dwi Guna and Friends.
This research used literature sociology approach with descriptive analysis method
that studied about humanism values in the short story collection of ‘Satu
Miliar Cinta' by I Gusti Made Dwi Guna and Friends which also became the data
source of this research that collected using reading and taking notes technique. The
objects of this research were the humanism values.
Humanism values in this short story compilation were: (1) helping each other
which involved: helping other human being that was found in the short story of
Anggur Milik Ibu, and Di Balik Kereta Waktu. (2) love and affection (care and
empathy) which involved: (a) the people's care that was found in the short story of
“Pintu-Pintu Kematian”, (b) Nick's care toward Amy that was found
in the short story of Di Balik Kereta Waktu, (c) a mother's care to her child that was
found in the short story of Suqariyah Melebur Dosa, (d) Hani's care toward the
character of I that was found in the short story of Hani Kecil and (e) Dinka's
empathy toward mother in the short story of Embun di Mata Dinka, (3) Solidarity
which involved: the solidarity of fighting Japanese troops by Nick and Isco in the
short story of Di Balik Kereta Waktu, (4) Being humble which involved: keeping a
good relationship with neighbors that was found in the short story of Anggur Milik
Ibu. (5) Protecting human's dignity which involved: (a) a mother's fight toward
father's treatment in the short story of Anggur Milik Ibu, (b) Students' fight in the
short story of Perempatan, (6) willing to sacrifice which involved: a mother's
sacrifice toward Dinka in the short story of Embun di Mata Dinka.
