Abstract

Dr. Gumbreg Purwokerto Road is an undivided two-lane two-way street with
a width of 5.5 metres and a length of 1.2 kilometres. The large number of vehicles
passing and entering the road, especially on certain hours, as well as the bustle
alongside the road influence the performance of the road itself. Therefore, an
analysis study is needed to analyse the performance of Dr. Gumbreg Purwokerto
Road. This research is expected to be able to find out the performance of the road’s
existing condition and the next 10 years’ condition. The research used a survey
method. It surveys the traffic volume. The data are analysed through the Indonesia
Highway Capacity Manual (1997) to obtain the value of light-vehicle’s free flow
velocity (FV), Degree of Saturation (DS), and the road srvice level. The research
result of the existing condition shows that the (FV) is 38.92 km/hour, the (DS) is
0.55 and the service level is C category. This means that it belongs to unsaturated
condition. The analysis of the next 10 years (without any change) road performance
(2028) shows that the (FV) is 38.92 km/hour, the DS is 1.19 and the service level is
F category. This means that it belongs to satured condition. After two scenarios,
scenario I and scenario II, were conducted, it reveals that scenario II is the best
scenario (by widening the track to 8 meters, separating the entrance and the exit of
Margono Soekarjo Hospital, and installing the traffic signs). Scenario application
obtains the (FV) of 44.56 km/hour, the (DS) 0f 0.70, and the service level of C
category. Thus, this means that it belongs to a stable condition.
