This researcch aimed to describe the students' spatial ability and self
efficacy at SMP Negeri 2 Banyumas viewed from gender. It applied qualitative
research methods using the Milles and Huberman models including data
reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. Subjects in this study were students
of class VIII E obtained by purposive sampling technique. The students were
grouped by gender, namely groups of male students and groups of female
students. Each of the four students selected for interview purposes. Data
collection techniques used self efficacy questionnaires, spatial ability tests,
interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of the study, it can be
concluded that male students were able to master aspects of spatial perception,
visual spatial, spatial orientation, and mind rotation. In other side, female students
were able to master 3 aspects, namely spatial perception, spatial orientation, and
mind rotation. Self efficacy of male students had confidence in the dimensions of
level, strength, and generality, while women had confidence in the dimensions of
level and generality.
