Abstract
The study aimed to determine cooperative learning type of Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFAE) affected students' mathematical communication skills. The research design was Posttest Only Control Design. The population in this study was all classes of seventh grades in SMP Negeri 2 Somagede. Sample was determined using the Cluster Random Sampling technique and obtained two sample classes, namely Seventh B class as an experimental class which participated in SFAE learning consisted of 23 students and seventh D grade as a control class with direct learning consisted of 23 students. The results discovered that the mathematical communication skills of students who participated in SFAE learning were better than the mathematical communication skills of students with direct learning, so that it could be interpreted that cooperative learning type of Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFAE) affected students' communication skills.
