Family planning program (KB) is a scheme to reduce the population growth.
However, the program result has not been satisfying; it can be seen from the
increase of contraception use rate and the downward of unmet need rate from the
survey. It never reaches the target of RPJMN. One of the factors is a low
discipline in the contraceptive use, especially the pill. This backward can be
boosted by providing a right information. This can be done by the use of audiovisual
media.
This study is find out the effectiveness of audio-visual media to increase the
knowledge about the pill use for mothers in Sokaraja. This is an experimental
study employing a pseudo-experimental design by having a group of pretestposttest
scheme. The sample is 79 mothers of neighborhood organization
members.
Based on the validity and reliability tests, the questionnaire of 23 items are valid
and reliable. From the univariate and bivariate tests, the respondents’ knowledge
was 13,20 with an SD of 1,835 before the treatment, and it is 18,99 with an SD of
1,676 after it. This shows that audiovisual media can present more concrete
experience to the respondents. Thus, it is concluded that the audiovisual media is
effective to increase the knowledge of contraceptive pill use among the targeted
mothers.
