The objective of this research was to figure out number of farmland conversion in Purbalingga Sub-district of Purbalingga Regency.
Data were collected by observing and sorting relevant documents from the Office of Agriculture and Forestry of Purbalingga. Data were processed by 1) Map cropping, 2) Map registering, and 3) Map digitalizing. Data analysis technique used by the researcher was qualitative descriptive analysis and map
overlaying.
The result of the research presented a significant number of agriculture land conversion. The area of rice field totaled 104 hectares (7%) was conversed into non-farmland. On the other side, the residential area increased 109 hectares (7.4%), and the industrial area increased 8 hectares (0.5%). Based on the result, it can be concluded that the farmland conversion in Purbalingga-Sub-district was mainly intended for residential area rather than for industrial area.
