Abstract

Black soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) is a soybean plant having typical
morphology; it is its black shell seed. Though it has similar morphology and
nutrition to yellow soybean, black soybean has specifically usage as the
ingredient of soy sauce. One of the obstacles in soybeans cultivation, especially
black soybean, is rust disease by Phakopsora pachyrhizi. An eco-friendly
alternative in controlling leaves rust disease uses resistant varieties and
biological control agent of Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteri (PGPR) and
Corynebacterium (Coryne). This research aims to examine the effectivity of PGPR
and Coryne giving toward the rust disease intensity on black soybeans varieties in
rust disease endemic lands. This research uses completely randomized design of
two factors (factor 1 black soybean varieties; V1: Detam 1, V2:Detam 3, V3:
Detam 4 and factor 2 biological control agents; control, PGPR, and Coryne).
This research applies 9 combinations and three times of repetitions. The observed
parameters covers rust disease intensity, the height of plant, the diameter of plant
canopy, the diameter of stem, the number of seeds per plant, the number of pods
per plant, the weight of seeds per plant, the weight of 100 seeds per plant. F test is
applied in statistics analysis. If it shows significant effect, Duncan Multiple Range
Test of 95% trust level would be applied later. The results shows that the
soybeans varieties gives significant effect toward the weight of seed per plant and
gives very significant effect on the weight of 100 seeds per plant whereas
biological control agent treatment gives significant effect on the height of plant
and the number of seeds per plant moreover it gives very significant effect on rust
disease intensity and the weight of 100 seeds per plant. Both factors do not show
an interaction on all the observed parameters. The comparison between PGPR
application and control toward rust disease intensity shows 8.9% PGPR,
Corynebacterium 11.7%, and 33.9 % of control.
