Abstract

ANDRI FITRIZAL EMIL. The Optimization Combination Rhizome Extract Turmeric (Curcuma domestica Val.) With the leaves of tempuyung (Sonchus arvensis L.) as anti-inflammatory The White Rat Strain Male Wistar with Simplex Lattice Design Method.
Under the guidance of RETNO WAHYUNINGRUM, M.Si, Apt and ANJAR MAHARDIAN KUSUMA, M.Sc, Apt.
Background: Turmeric and tempuyung plants have anti-inflammatory effects as evidenced with a study conducted by Rustam E, et al (2007), that turmeric is able to provide anti-inflammatory effects with the percent inhibition of 52.35% at a dose of 250 mg / kg BB, while the research conducted by Lumbanraja (2009), that tempuyung able to provide anti-inflammatory effects with the percent inhibition of 78.25%.
Objective: This study aimed to compare the anti-inflammatory combination effects and the single effect of the white male rat wistar strain and determine the optimal combination of simplex lattice design method.
Method: This study included the type of experimental research, which studied the possible influence of the variable with the experimental observations of the various treatment conditions and compared with the control group. The percent data of inhibition which obtained then used to determine the optimum optimization using simplex lattice design method.
Results: The test results of anti-inflammatory effects be cognizant that the greatest percent inhibition is a combination extract of turmeric and tempuyung which amounted to 40.81% and the greatest potential for inhibition of inflammation was also on a combination extract of turmeric and tempuyung which amounted to 50.64 ± 2.49, while for yield optimization of the optimum combination in simplex lattice design method based on a combination of 50% turmeric extract and 50% tempuyung extract are 40.81%. ANOVA test results either percent inhibition of inflammation and potential inhibition of inflammation indicates that the P value <0.005, so that means there is a significant difference between the percent inhibition of inflammation and potential inhibition of inflammation in each treatment group and time of observation.
Conclusions: The combination extract of turmeric and improve tempuyung proven anti-inflammatory effects compared with single extract, with the optimum combination of optimization results found in between 50% turmeric and 50% tempuyung.
