The objective of this research was to know the student’s competence in causative use of have, let, make in Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto.This was a descriptive survey research. The population of this research was the fifth semeester English Department Students at Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto in academic year 2014/2015. The samples were 37 students. The subject of the reserch were class B and C of fifth semester students of English department at Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto. The writer collected the data through test.The main result of this research was students’ competence towards causative’s use in the test that was classified into 5 categories which consisted of very good, good,fair, bad, and very bad.Data collected from this instrument of the students’ classical competencey belonged to category fair. It can be seen from calculation of the students’ classical score that was 55 %.The writer only discussed the error which was made by more than 70 % students/ this means the writer discusses number 16 and 18, the writer found that the errors made by students are intralingua errors. It is Ignorance restriction , incomplete application of rules, and false concept hypothesized.
