Antibacterial activity of ethanolic extract of Cymbopogon citratus (DC.)
Stapf) stem against Streptococcus mutans had been studied. Dried lemon grass
stem was extracted by maceration method using ethanol 70%. Ethanolic extract
was diluted with Dimethylsulfoxida (DMSO) 10% and applied for six treatment
groups: 2%, 4%, 6% and 8% extract solution, positive control streptomycin and
negative control/solvent control (DMSO 10%). The results exhibition that lemon
grass extract 4%, 6% dan 8% have antibacterial activity against streptococcus
mutans, it show similar result when streptomycin apply. TLC results indication
that the lemon grass contains flavonoids, volatile oil and saponin
