This study had an objective to find out the factors of early-age marriages among the community in a village of Limbangan, Kersana district, Brebes regency.
This applied a survey method. The data were collected through questionnaire. The analysis data of early-age marriage was done through a technique of qualitative descriptive of percentage. The population covered the parents who marry their children at an early age, 24 people and the early-marriage actors in 2012, 24 pairs. The population was then made into the sample.
Based on the calculation of percentage on the reasons of early marriage among the community, the factors to cause the marriage were economy, education, and their lack of information access on the marital law. The economic factor contributed 37,50%, meaning the parents married their daughters to reduce the economicburden in their family. The lio-level of education factor was divided into two category: a) the low education level of parents was 37,50%, indicated by the fact that they had not studied at any school level and b) the low education of the actors was 58,33%, showing that they only finished their elementary school. The third factor was they did not know the marital law forbidding the people to marry before 16 years old.
