This research was done based on the problems of Javanese tradition on wedding ceremonies at the village of Dukuhbangsa, Jatinegara sub-district of Tegal regency in 1990 until 2013. The objective of the research is to explore the influence of Javanese tradition at the village.
The used method was historical method by using the steps as a follow : (1) Topic choosing, (2) Data or source collection, (3) Verification (source criticism and source validation), (4) Interpretation, and (5) Report writing.
The research result shows that the social and economical condition of the villagers was in proper progress gradually, it is no wonder if the condition influenced the villagers’ mindset on the Javanese traditions which was the inheritance of the ancestors. The development of Javanese tradition influence toward traditional ceremonies especially the wedding one has been different with the original traditions come from Javanese palaces or other regions. The villagers of Dukuhbangsa still follow the Javanese culture but it is just a heritage and it is not essential anymore for them. In fact, the Javanese wedding ceremonies done are mixed with Islamic Sharia in every single phase of the ceremony. They still apply the tradition as a respect to local wisdom as well as a forum to strengthen their social relationship among them.
