Abstract

Chemistry learning media using the periodic table of elements is still very
manual, and the main obstacles that arise in the study of the chemical element that it is
difficult to memorize and recognize the characteristics of each chemical element.
Application of expert system as a medium of learn to recognize the chemical elements
has a function as a medium of learning or tutorial, in the hope of the user can be
recognize each element of chemicals and help improve the quality of education,
especially in the field of chemistry. Expert systems can be a source of reference
information needed by the user, wherein the information contained in this application
system obtained from a chemist. By using expert systems, information will be obtained
more quickly and more effectively without a chemist. In research expert system there
the data acquisition of knowledge (knowledge acquisition) such as characteristic of the
chemical elements, the data chemical elements as well as the rule base (rule) is
obtained from a chemist. From the available data is then implemented into the method
expert system backward chaining (trace back) is then applied in the application program.
In this application the user can do out consultations about characteristic features
chemical element displayed by the system, the user can also select the characteristic
elements of as you wish which is then processed using a method that has been applied
to the application program to generate the output list of chemical elements as well as an
explanation of the selected chemical elements.
