Abstract

Research about antiviral activity of ethanolic extract of Wingbean leaves
(Psophocarpus tetragonolobus D. C.) against Newcastle Disease Virus and
Profile of Thin Layer Chromatography has been done. The purpose of this
research was exploring the potency of ethanol extract of Wingbean leaves as
antiviral against Newecstle Disease Virus and to know the Profile of Thin Layer
Chromatography.
Antiviral activity were observe by hemagglutination test. Ethanol extract of
Wingbean leaves made with concentration of 50 μg/mL, 100 μg/mL , and 150
μg/mL. Each groups were given suspension virus then inoculated to embryonated
chicken eggs and incubated at 37 0C for 2-3 days. The observe data is the
percentage of antiviral resistance. The data were analyzed with statistical with
one-way ANAVA with 95% confidence level. The identification ethanolic extract
of Wingbean leaves compounds used thin-layer chromatography (TLC).
The result antiviral activity of Wingbean leaves ethanolic extract against
Newcastle Disease Virus at concretation of 50 μg/ml, 100 μg/ml,150 μg/ml and
positive control showed average concretation of 25%; 58,33%; 83,33 % and
positive control 89,58%. The result profil of thin layer chromatography showed
that ethanolic extract of Wingbean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus D. C.)
contained flavonoid compounds.
