Abstract
This research was aimed at improving students’ reading comprehension on
narrative text through CIRC technique. The research was done at 2nd grade of IPS
2 students in SMAN 3 Purwokerto in academic year 2012/2013 as the subject of
this research. It consisted of 28 students, 16 males and 12 females. In collecting
the data, the researcher used test, observation, and questionnaire.
The result of the research showed that CIRC technique could improve
students’ comprehension on narrative text. The improvement of the test in cycle 1
was 15.55% and cycle 1 to cycle 2 was 17%. Besides that, there were 75% or 21
students who achieved 75 of passing score. Therefore, it reached the indicator of
action success. The average of students’ observation in cycle 1 was 33.92% and in
cycle 2 was 52.21%. Thus, the improvement of the cycle was 18.20%. The
questionnaire result showed that the students gave positive response toward CIRC
technique was 80.10%. The result had proved that CIRC technique could improve
students’ comprehension on narrative text.
