This research entitled “Cultural form of Burial Ceremony of Tana Toraja
Tradition in Cerpen Tedong Helena and Syair Duka By Denny Prabowo”. It aimed to
describe the form of culture in burial ceremony in both short stories. It also informs
the reader toward culture in burial ceremony in Tana Toraja in short story Tedong
Helena and Syair Duka by Denny Prabowo.
The data are texts in short story Tedong Helena and Syair Duka, the data
source are short story by Denny Prabowo entitled Tedong Helena published in
anthology short story Loktong by CWI: Menpora and Syair Duka published by Media
Indonesia on 14 march 2013. The objects of this research are culture on burial
ceremony in Tana Toraja in Tedong Helena and Syair Duka by Denny Prabowo. The
approach of this research in anthropology literature for is cultural research. The data
gathered by recording and nothing while the data analysis used the data reduction,
serving and coculding and verification by using descriptive analytic.
It can be know that: (1) this culture is about value, norm, and regulation that
mens buffalo were used by spirit to travel for puya (heaven), the believe tana bulaan
must do a great rambu solo’, the believe tomanurung do a great rambu solo’, the
mantaa, and also ma’pasilaga tedong; (2) the culture is activity of ma’pasa’ tedong,
ma tunda, ma’pepengkalao, mangisi lantang, ma’pasilaga tedong, ma’ badong, and
mantaa; (3) the culture is a human culture namely simbuang, la bok duatalan,
tongkonan, alang, lantang, tau-tau, erong, lamba-lamba, and lesung.
