The problems that arise in this study is whether the application type STAD
cooperative learning can increase students' interest towards learning, in science
learning materials on human respiratory organs in the first semester of fifth grade
students Elementary School 1 Banjarmangu academic year 2010/2011. The
subjects of this study is the first semester of fifth grade students Elementary
School 1 Banjarmangu academic year 2010/2011. The subject of this research is
student grade Elementary School I Banjarmangu V consisting of 11 students. Data
collection tool in the form of direct observation, student observation sheet,
observation sheets teacher, student interest questionnaires, worksheets and
quizzes. From the results can be concluded that student interest in learning has
increased from 73.52% in the first cycle to 76.22% in the second cycle, there is
increasing student learning activities either individually or in groups when taught
using cooperative learning in science lessons type STAD material of human
respiratory organs of cycle I and cycle II 45.78% increased to 73.40%, the
activities of teachers also increased cycle I and cycle II 64.16% 92.5, there is
increasing student achievement, both individually and in groups of The average
value of individual completeness 60.45 54.54% to 80.45 on the second cycle and
100% complete, while the group on the first cycle there are two groups who
completed the group 1 (70) and group III (70) while group of an incomplete is the
group II (50) and on the second cycle all groups completed the group I (100),
group II (80) and group III (100). The conclusion that can be taken is to use
cooperative learning to encourage and increase student achievement in science
subject matter of human respiratory organs material in class V SD Negeri 1
Banjarmangu, Banjarnegara.
