Abstract
Discipline is one aspect that is important in the learning process. One of the
subjects that have a charge code of discipline is subject Citizenship Education
(Civics). Therefore, one important role in fostering the student discipline code can
not be separated from the role Civics teacher. This study aims to reveal the role of
civics teachers in fostering student discipline code. The approach used in this
study is a qualitative approach with case study method. The technique of
collecting data through observation, interviews, documentation and literature
studies. Informants in this study is the Civics Teachers, Principals, Teachers BK
and students. Analysis of data with 3 stages of data reduction, data presentation,
and conclusion and verification. The results of this study indicate that the Civics
teachers have a role in fostering the student discipline code. This is shown in the
learning process, the teacher always associate with the character of the discipline
of learning materials of students, as well as outside the civics lesson. Obstacles
encountered Civics teachers in fostering student discipline code is the code of
discipline of students is still dominated by students who do not apply the
discipline code. It has an impact on student discipline code which is still not good.
The efforts that teachers of Civics in building the character of discipline students
by providing motivation to the beginning of each lesson, reprimand directly to
students who commit violations, advising each finished learning, provide
exemplary student and cooperate with Counseling (BK) as well as providing a
point system of sanctions students.
