The aim of this study was to find out which one of three types of vocabulary tests performed best. The study was conducted in June 2011 at SMA Negeri Baturraden. The writer used comparative method which involved three types of vocabulary testing, each test type of vocabulary test consist of 20 item questions. In collecting the data, the writer used a test in which the result was analyzed using reliability analysis.
Having analyzed the data, the writer found that the reliability of translation test was the highest than cloze procedure and multiple choice. It could be seen from the result of reliability analysis 0. 801 for translation, 0.763 for multiple choice, and 0. 627 for cloze procedure. Having seen the result, the writer concluded that translation test was the best test for testing vocabulary.
