The aims of this research was to find out the level of students‟ mastery on
writing summary. This research used survey method. All the participants in the
research are sixth semester students „English Education Department in
Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto. In collecting the data the writer used
test writing summary. Which were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The
computation of the data to find out the level of students‟ mastery in writing
summary used percentage formula. Based on the analysis, the writer found out the
levels of students‟ mastery for each category, there are: content (74.53%),
grammar (80.76%), form (85.3%), style (87.3%), and mechanic (78%). It means
that students‟ of sixth semester English Education Department, Muhammadiyah
University of Purwokerto is good category.
