Abstract

Determination of Amlodipine Besylate tablet using Ultraviolet-Visible
Spectrophotometry method has been done. Spectrophotometry method is based on
the bromination of amlodipine besylate with a known excess of bromate-bromide
mixture in acid medium followed by the determination of excess bromine by
reaction with metanil yellow. The absorbance were measured at λ = 530.0 nm and
the regression equation was y = 0.10467x – 0.01466. Absorbance was increase
linearly with increasing concentration of Amlodipine Besylate, which was
corroborated by the correlation coefficient (r)= 0.995. The result of validation
method obtained accuracy of method and precision was good with, limit of
detection 0.38 μg/mL, limit of quantitation 1.28 μg/mL. The result of validation
showed that method of Ultraviolet-Visible Spectrophotomery was be used to
determinate amlodipine besylate in tablet.
The result determination of amlodipine besylate between generic tablet
and branded name was obtained not different.
