The lack of community‟s knowledge about treatment leads them cannot
obtain medicine properly, the wrong use and storage are the reasons for them to
get counseling. To measure non-health students‟ knowledge in Banyumas on how
to obtain medicine, how to use medicine, how to storage medicine, and how to
dispose medicine, and measure the difference of knowledge after education of
counseling and interactive discussion applied on social media path. The type and
design of this study was a quasi-experimental design with one group pretest
posttest design that aims to determine the improvement of non-health students‟
knowledge. The sampling was done by nonprobability sampling method. The
value of mean score of knowledge of counseling group after treatment was 0.8099
higher than before treatment 0.6099. Value of mean score of knowledge of
interactive discussion group after treatment was 0.8713 higher than before
treatment 0,5528. Independent t-test to compare the level of knowledge of
interactive discussion and counseling groups obtained 0.059 (p> 0.05), not a
significant difference. Paired t-test (p <0.05) showed the difference of knowledge
between before and after treatment either with counseling and interactive
discussion methods. There was improvement in knowledge of Dagusibu on nonhealth
students in Banyumas after applied education with counseling and
interactive discussion methods on social media Path. Education methods of
counseling and interactive discussion had similar effectiveness in improving nonhealth
students‟ knowledge about Dagusibu in Banyumas.
