Background : Pregnant women can experience a variety of complaints or health problem during pregnancy so that require medicines. However, some drugs that are available in the community and can be purchased without a prescription (over the counter) have risk effects. Pregnant women should be well informed about the use of drugs in this particular period. CBIA method aims to improve the ability of the community to be able to examine drug information critically and independently to ensure an effective and safe self medication.
Objectives : To determine the effect of intervention with CBIA strategy in improving knowledge of pregnant women in the selection of OTC drugs in Sruweng District, Kebumen Regency.
Method : This type of research is a quasi experimental with pretest and posttest design with two groups of CBIA and leaflets. Data were analyzed using Paired t-test and Independent-sample t-test with α = 0,05
Result : CBIA increased the knowledge of pregnant women in the selection of over the counter (p=0,000). CBIA increased knowledge in pregnant women higher than leaflets method.
