Akidah Akhlak Education is a form of education that encompasses an indepth
discussion of human behavior and involves active efforts to instill
praiseworthy moral values in students. In addition, Akidah Akhlak Education also
teaches attitudes of tolerance among religious communities. Akidah Akhlak
Education is very much needed in the tourism industry in Indonesia due to the
diversity of cultures in the country. Therefore, students need Akidah Akhlak
Education so that they can develop Islamic professional ethics towards local
cultures in the industrial world. The aim of this study is to understand the role of
Akidah Akhlak education in fostering Islamic professional ethics towards local
culture.
This study is a field research type using a qualitative descriptive approach.
The research subjects are the school principal, Akidah Akhlak education teachers,
head of the tourism services department, and 12th-grade students in the tourism
services department at SMK Muhammadiyah Slawi who have completed their
internship (PKL). Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and
documentation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation,
and conclusion drawing.
The research results show that Akidah Akhlak education plays a role in
fostering Islamic professional ethics towards local culture among students in the
Tourism Services Department at SMK Muhammadiyah Slawi. This is done
through a holistic and contextual approach, which becomes the main focus in the
teaching methods. Teachers act as facilitators, monitoring and guiding student
behavior. Additionally, the school integrates Islamic values into daily activities
and the curriculum. For example, during internships at Borobudur Temple,
students are taught to face cultural challenges with tolerance and professionalism.
Although there are obstacles such as lack of infrastructure and the diverse
backgrounds of students, collaboration between school staff and the educational
community has successfully overcome these challenges. As a result, this
education is effective in shaping students with high moral character who are
prepared to enter the workforce with Islamic values and respect for local culture.
