Abstract

This study aims to ascertain teachers’ and students’ perceptions of learning word class using scattergories game at a private high school in Cilacap. As a research model, a qualitative method was employed, utilising a descriptive qualitative approach to elucidate the perceptions of teachers and students regarding the use of the Scattergories game in the context of word class learning. The data were collected via interviews, which were recorded using a mobile phone's MP3 audio functionality. The study was conducted using purposive sampling, with the participation of an English teacher who teaches in grade XI and four students in a private high school. The results of the interview indicate that the use of this Scattergories game was believed to reduce boredom among students and of enhancing their comprehension of English word classes.
