Abstract

Mung bean (Vigna radiata L.) is a leguminous plant that adapts quickly to various tropical climates. Therefore, its production needs to be continuously improved. Low soil fertility is one of the factors contributing to low crop yields. One approach to address this issue is by enhancing soil fertility through fertilization. This research aimed to determine the optimal phosphate and potassium dosages for the growth and yield of mung bean (Vigna radiata L.). The study was conducted from August to October 2023 at the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture and Fisheries, Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto. The experiment was carried out in polybags using a randomized block design (RBD) with two factors. The first factor was the phosphate dosage from MKP (M), consisting of three levels: M0 = 0 kg P2O5/ha, M1 = 35 kg P2O5/ha, and M2 = 70 kg P2O5/ha. The second factor was the potassium dosage from white KNO3 (K), consisting of three levels: K0 = 0 kg K2O/ha, K1 = 50 kg K2O/ha, and K2 = 100 kg K2O/ha. The observed data were analyzed using ANOVA, and if significant results were found, the analysis was followed by a DMRT test at a 5% significance level. The results showed that the interaction between phosphate and potassium had a significant effect on several variables, including stem diameter (34-48 DAS), number of leaves (34-48 DAS), leaf area (34-48 DAS), plant height (27-41 DAS), flowering time, number of productive branches, number of empty pods, number of filled pods, seed weight per plant, and weight of 100 seeds.
