Soursop (Annona muricata L.) is a perennial plant that can grow and
produce fruit throughout the year. However, one of the challenges in cultivating
soursop is the slow germination of seeds, which experience a period of dormancy.
To overcome seed dormancy in soursop, treatments such as soaking the seeds in a
potassium nitrate (KNO3) solution and the growth regulator gibberellin (GA3)
can be employed. This study aimed to determine the best interaction between GA3
soaking and various KNO3 concentrations for breaking dormancy in soursop
seeds. The research utilized a factorial randomized block design (RBD). The first
factor was various KNO3 concentrations (K0=0 g, K1=10 g, K2=20 g, K3=30 g),
and the second factor was the duration of GA3 soaking (G0=0 hours, G1=12
hours, G2=24 hours). The observed variables included germination rate, vigor
index, growth rate, root length, fresh weight, and dry weight. Statistical analysis
was performed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), followed by Duncan's
multiple range test at the 5% significance level. The results revealed that the
combination of KNO3 soaking at doses of 10 g, 20 g, and 30 g with GA3 soaking
for 12 hours and 24 hours exhibited significant interactions and obtained a
significant effect on all observed variables.
