Abstract

The primary source of income in Petaling Jaya Village is palm oil plantations.
With oil palm trees planted decades ago, farmers can generate revenue from these
plantations. This study aims to: 1) analyze the constraints faced by farmers in
palm oil production in Petaling Jaya Village, Sungai Gelam District, Muaro
Jambi Regency, and explore the solutions they employ. 2) investigate the various
factors affecting palm oil production in the farming operations of Petaling Jaya
Village, Sungai Gelam District, Muaro Jambi Regency. 3) measure the level of
risk in palm oil production in the farming operations of Petaling Jaya Village,
Sungai Gelam District, Muaro Jambi Regency. The research method used is
descriptive with a quantitative approach, utilizing both primary and secondary
data. The sampling technique was Simple Random Sampling with a lottery
technique without replacement, involving 40 palm oil farmers in Petaling Jaya
Village, Sungai Gelam District, Muaro Jambi Regency. The results indicate that
the constraints faced by the farmers include weather conditions, pruning,
equipment, and road infrastructure. The factors influencing palm oil production
are the use of fertilizers and pesticides, meaning that each additional unit of
fertilizer and pesticide can increase the amount of palm oil production. The
production risk experienced by farmers in Petaling Jaya Village is 2.7061 kg.
