Abstract
Concrete innovation by utilizing waste such as household waste and agricultural
waste can reduce environmental pollution and participate in preserving the
environment. One of the household waste and agricultural waste used to mix
concrete is egg shells and rice snail shells. This research is an experiment to
determine the effect of adding egg shell powder and rice snail shell powder with
variations of 0%, 5%, 10%, and 12,5% of the volume of the concrete cylinder. The
test sample was used on a concrete cylinder measuring 15 x 30 cm with a design
age of 28 days. The results of the research showed that concrete with the addition
of egg shell powder and rice snail shell powder experienced a decrease in the
compressive strength of the concrete. From the void optimization results for a
coarse aggregate composition of 2-3 65%, and fine aggregate and shell powder
35%, it produces a minimum average void of 7.74 kg and a maximum average void
of 8.28 kg. With the results of compressive strength test at variations of 0%, 5%,
10%, and 12,5%, namely 24,35 MPa; 22,46 MPa; 21,23 MPa; 20,29 MPa. After
conducting research it is recommended for variations of 5% and 10% for structural
concrete, and 12.5% variation for non-structural concrete from the 26 Mpa plan.
