Abstract

The background of this research is the existence of low teacher performance
which has an impact on the low learning achievement of students in state
elementary schools in the Sunan Kalijaga Gugus area in Adipala District, Cilacap
Regency. With the problem of low teacher performance, this research aims to
describe the effectiveness of academic supervision on performance. Teachers in
Improving Learning Achievement of Public Elementary School Students in the
Sunan Kalijaga Cluster Area, Adipala District, Cilacap Regency. The method used
in this research is a qualitative phenomenological study approach. The informants
in this research were 3 Principals of State Elementary Schools in Adipala District,
Cilacap Regency. Data collection techniques use interviews, observation and
documentation studies. Activities in data analysis are data reduction, data
presentation, and drawing conclusions. From the results of initial observations,
interviews and documentation studies, researchers found that teacher performance
was very low and student learning achievement was also very low. From the
background of the problem, the root of the problem was found to be There is a
low level of academic supervision carried out by school principals, therefore this
research focuses on the level of effectiveness of academic supervision carried out
by school principals on teacher performance and student learning achievement.
According to the data and information obtained from the elementary school which
was the target of the research, the supervision process carried out by the principal
was in accordance with procedures, so that the supervision process by the
principal was stated to be very effective. Likewise, the supervision carried out by
the principal of teachers from the results of observations, Interviews and
documentation studies found that supervision can effectively improve teacher
performance and increase student learning achievement. The conclusion of the
research shows that the effectiveness of the principal's academic supervision can
improve teacher performance and increase learning achievement for state
elementary school students in the Sunan Kalijaga Cluster Area, Adipala District,
Cilacap Regency.
