This is a qualitative descriptive research. The subjects of this study are 9th-grade
students at SMP Muhammadiyah Klampok. The sampling technique used is
purposive sampling. The instruments in this research include a questionnaire on
the economic status of students' parents, a test of mathematical problem-solving
abilities, and interviews. The triangulation technique is used as a validation test.
The results of this study show that (1) students with a high level of parental
economic status can apply all four problem-solving indicators according to Polya.
(2)Students with moderate to low-income parents do not meet the fourth indicator,
which is checking the answer, even though they are capable of solving problems.
