The Kembang Kuning Penitentiary in Nusakambangan houses 50 prisoners who are
serving a death sentence out of a total of 432 prisoners. Coaching for death row
inmates at Kembang Kuning Prison experiences problems, namely when death row
inmates undergo isolation, which disrupts the psychological condition of death row
inmates and ultimately hampers coaching efforts. Kembang Kuning Correctional
Facility does not differentiate the coaching carried out for death row inmates from
ordinary inmates. This study aims to analyze the coaching of death row inmates in
Kembang Kuning Correctional Facility and the effectiveness of the coaching of death
row inmates. This research method is empirical juridical which is useful for finding
and analyzing data from a subject matter by conducting interviews directly with
officers and death row inmates at Kembang Kuning Correctional Facility. The results
of the study show; (1) Development of death row inmates at Kembang Kuning
Correctional Facility includes personality development, independence, and skills
through various activities carried out, especially focused on religious activities; (2)
Development of death row inmates at Kembang Kuning Correctional Facility is quite
good because the development of death row inmates is more focused on religion so that
death row inmates are closer to God Almighty so that they are ready to face execution.
