This research was aimed at describing mathematic anxiety and analytical
thinking skill of student at SMA N 5 Purwokerto on probability material. This was
qualitative descriptive research. The technique
o
f data analysis was the one from
Miles & Huberman that involved data reduction, data display and verification.
The subject of this research was grade X IPS

3 student at SMA N 5 Purwokerto.
The data were collected through test, questionnaire, structured int
erview, and
documentation. The result

of this research
were: 1)
the high

achievement student
felt anxious when appointed by the teacher to come in front of the class and to do
a lot of assignments. The student were able to elaborate the problem and
unders
tand simple and complex correlation; 2) medium

achievement student felt
anxious since the beginning of mathematic learning process, when appointed by
the teacher, and when asking questions. The students were able to elaborate the
problem and understand sim
ple correlation; 3) low

achievement student felt
anxious during the mathematic learning process. The student were able to
elaborate the problem but not capable of giving the reason of every correct
answer.
