Abstract

Project scheduling is a crucial element for shipbuilding companies to maximize profits. The most commonly used analysis method is the Critical Path Method (CPM). However, in reality, planning using CPM and other traditional methods is considered inefficient because they do not consider the productivity of each task and add safety time, resulting in longer project durations. In response to these challenges, a new method called Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) has emerged to plan project schedules efficiently. CCPM is a project planning method that emphasizes the resources required to perform tasks within the project. It aims to eliminate multitasking, student syndrome, Parkinson's law, and provides a buffer at the end of the project. In this final project, a comparison is made between the durations obtained from the implementation of CCPM and the initial scheduling using the traditional method (Gantt chart) for the construction project of Mahad Al Imam Malik Building at Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto. The initial project scheduling used the traditional method, which was then further detailed and integrated with activity relationships in the form of CPM. The durations obtained from CCPM scheduling, which eliminates multitasking, removes safety time for each activity, and incorporates buffers, are compared with the traditional method. The analysis results show that the CCPM duration is 43 days shorter than CPM, with a project cost of IDR. 4,400,000,000.
