This study aims to describe the acquisition of vowels, consonants, diphthongs, and
clusters in the speech of 4-year-old children. This study was conducted using a
qualitative descriptive approach. The data for this research consisted of speech
containing vowels, consonants, diphthongs, and clusters. The data source was from 8
students who were four years old. The data collection method used is observation,
with techniques such as free speech observation, note-taking, and recording. The
data analysis phase involved using an articulatory matching method. The
presentation of the analysis results was done informally. The instrument was based
on observation or direct observation. The results of this study show that seven out of
eight students have successfully produced the phonemes of vowels, consonants,
diphthongs, and clusters according to their classifications, clearly and accurately.
Only one student struggled with producing the [d] consonant phoneme, while the
others succeeded like the seven other students.
