The study, entitled Euphemism References in Brownis Program Piscourse on
Trans TV Uploaded on Youtube August 2020, aimed to describe and explain the types
of euphemism references and the benefits of euphemisms in "Brownis" show on Trans
TV uploaded on YouTube August 2020. This study implemented a descriptive
qualitative approach. The data were in conversational discourse between the host and
guest stars on the "Brownis" talk show program, which contained euphemisms. The
data analysis stage in this study employed descriptive techniques through data
reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Based on the data analysis, the
researcher concluded that: first, the types of euphemistic references revealed in the
form of animal names, object names, human vital organs, diseases, activities, events,
and circumstances. Second, the benefits of using euphemisms were found in the form
of a tool to refine speech, a tool to keep secret things, a tool for education, a tool for
diplomacy, and a tool to be cautious. The advantage of the "Brownis" talk show with
other talk shows was that it was hosted by four presenters and displayed humor in
each session.
