Abstract
This research was conducted in two locations with different soil types structure. For
the first location, it is located on the ground behind the building of the Faculty of
Engineering and Science, Muhammadiyah University ofPurwokerto where has soil
conditions with dry and rocky soil types. The second location is located at Techno
Park, Muhammadiyah University ofPurwokerto where have soiled conditions with
wadas soil types or paddy soil. The electrodes used are single rod and triple rod.
The aim of this research is to compare which earth has the lowest soil resistance.
To improve soil resistance value, charcoal-salt media (SIGARANG) and activated
bentonite media was adding.
Based on the results of the study, it was conclude that the grounding at the first
location in the FTS UMP with a system without repaired resulted in an average
value of 58.7 n for single rod and 19.6 n for triple rod. Tile charcoal-salt system
yields an average value of 38.6 n and 17.6 n for single and triple rods. Using
activated bentonite yields an average value of 40.1 n and 18.3 n for single rod and
triple rod. At the second location, Techno Park, the grounding system without repair
produces an average value of 11.6 n for single rod and 4.2 n for triple rod.
SIGARANG produces an average value of 8.4 n and 4.1 n for single rod and triple
rod. Using activated bentonite yields an average value of9.3 nand 4.1 n for single
rod and triple rod. It can be conclude in this study that the grolJllding system using
charcoal-salt resistance value is smaller than using activated bentonite and
grounding without improvement with a percentage of 64.7% -72.4%.
