The purpose of this research is for knowing the existence of correlation
between Middle School National Exam points and Problem Solving Ability for
the students from X Science Grade of Padamara High School 1. This research
is categorized as descriptive research, with correlational study, and is a
quantitative research. The subjects are chosen with random sampling
technique. The research analysis is done using normality test before doing the
linear regression test. The result shows that the determination coefficient is
20,7%, so the 20,7% of the Problem Solving Ability Test points Variance can
be determined from the Middle School National Exam points, although only
15% of the National Exam questions can be categorized as problem solving.
The result from the linear regression test are tcalculation value is 4,023 and ttable
value is 1,999 so it can be determined that tcalculation>ttable. The result also
strengthened by sig value ¿0<0,05 so the conclusion is that there is a relation
between Middle School National Exam points and Problem Solving Ability for
the students from X Science Grade of Padamara High School 1.
